On October 20th, Awayter participated in the 2nd Meeting with the Sea, held in Palma de Mallorca and organized by the Balearic Islands Maritime Cluster. This event brought together institutional representatives, business leaders, and maritime sector experts to reflect on and advance the blue economy and sustainable development.
Our Co-founder, CEO and CTO, Eudald Bover Capdevila, was part of this day of dialogue and knowledge exchange, focused on the main challenges and opportunities of blue tourism.
A strategic meeting for the blue economy
The day was structured around three main themes that shaped the debate and future proposals:
The Blue Economy Manifesto
The meeting began with the presentation of the Blue Economy Manifesto by Javier Garat Pérez, president of the Spanish Maritime Cluster, followed by the institutional endorsement of the Manifesto. This is a key step in strengthening the collective commitment to a more sustainable and responsible development model.
Blue tourism as an engine of sustainability
Blue tourism was one of the central themes of the meeting, as it is a strategic sector within the blue economy. This topic was addressed in two parts:
- A roundtable of regional clusters, with the participation of representatives from different territories and entities in the sector.
- The presentation of the strategic lines of work in blue tourism, by Rosario Sánchez Grau, Secretary of State for Tourism.
Both spaces allowed for an analysis of the role of tourism as a driver of sustainability, innovation, and territorial development.
Blue cooperation and success stories
The section dedicated to blue cooperation began with the intervention of Iolanda Piedra Mañes, president of the Maritime Cluster of the Balearic Islands, followed by the presentation of the Recognition Plaque to the guest country, Georgia.
The Euroregion Experience Panel, moderated by Mercedes Tarrazón, then took place, with the participation of Clara Bartra and our representative, Eudald Bover Capdevila. During this session, Eudald presented the AWARE success story, the smart water station installed at the Urban Hostel Mallorca.
AWARE: Technology at the service of sustainable tourism
AWARE is an intelligent water dispensing system that eliminates the use of bottled water through digital technology, scalable systems, and an approach based on reuse and smart monitoring. It’s a solution that actively contributes to reducing plastic waste and promoting more sustainable practices in the tourism sector.
The session concluded with the presentation of the Blue Ecosystem project and Territorial Cooperation in the Blue World, chaired by Javier Arnau, CEO of Navalia.
Committed to more sustainable and responsible tourism
