Awayter, in collaboration with CESAM (Circular Economy for Sustainable Agri-food Systems), Urban Hostel Palma (a sustainable hostel), and CORSA (specialists in the development and installation of water treatment solutions), has today presented the AWARE project at a joint press conference held in Palma de Mallorca, at the headquarters of PIMEM, the Federation of Small and Medium Enterprises of Mallorca.

During the event, the participating entities introduced this initiative, aimed at transforming water consumption towards a more sustainable model through reuse and digitalization. The AWARE project consists of an intelligent water refill system based on reverse osmosis and IoT technology, enabling users to refill reusable containers in a simple, safe, and efficient way.

The solution incorporates features such as QR code access, usage traceability, and real-time monitoring. This allows the systemโ€™s performance to be optimized and its environmental impact to be accurately measured, particularly in reducing plastic waste and improving resource efficiency.

One of AWAREโ€™s main objectives is to optimize consumption models in real-world environments, while also raising user awareness, generating key data on consumption habits, and enabling continuous improvement and scalability across sectors such as tourism, urban environments, and agri-food.

The system has been implemented at Urban Hostel Palma, a sustainability-driven accommodation, where its performance has been validated in a real environment. During the 6-month pilot phase, the project delivered tangible results: 15,000 plastic bottles avoided and 9,000 single-use containers saved. This pilot has demonstrated the potential of IoT to drive more efficient and responsible models aligned with current environmental challenges.

โ€œAWARE reflects our commitment to innovation applied to sustainability. Through digitalization, we help companies evolve towards more efficient models, capable of measuring and reducing their environmental impact with objective data,โ€ said Eudald Bover, co-founder and CEO of Awayter.

The project is part of the CESAM European cascade funding program, reinforcing the commitment of the participating entities to the circular economy and the development of sustainable technological solutions.
